Description:

Leviathan was a contributing creative sponsor for EXPO CHICAGO 2012, during which several digital projects were produced for the event.

The creative contributions provided for a full page ad within the show catalogue.

Keenly aware of the digital work prepared for the show, the opportunity to design a piece that hued towards those projects emerged.

This geometric corkscrew is a variation of the concept art used in the broadcast spot.

The concept art represents the collective beauty of individuals parts coming together as one. Forming something new, organic and unexpected.

CG renders are notorious for unexpected artifacting, which is further complicated when color is screened over the object.

My preference is to work directly with the AO passes, pushing and pulling the tonal depths before adding several pass-through color layers.

The greatest challenge was enhancing the lighting within the corkscrew of the tiles.

Requiring selective shading of objects to push them back to enhance the visual hierarchy of an objects respective position in 3D space.
